Special Events

We are very proud to be a part of buildng the residential community in our home town. We feel it is important to participate and be involved in the growth and development of the place that we call home.

Parade of Homes

McLain Homes has been a part of the Acadiana Home Builders "Parade of Homes" over the past several years and will continue to support that effort in the future. We feel that this event is good for the industry and provides great information on what is going on in the current real estate market.

Acadiana Symphony Orchestra ~
Decorator ShowHouse

In 2006 McLain Homes took on a huge project when they teamed up with the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra to build Lafayette's first Decorator ShowHouse.
The McLain's approached the Acadiana Symphony and Orchestra in 2005 with the idea to partner on a Decorators ShowHouse. Bryan and Sylvia visited many other show homes across the country, and, unbeknownst to them, the Acadiana Symphony & Orchestra board was polling other symphony organizations across the country on their success with the ShowHouse concept. McLain Homes found that this event was a tried and true partnership that had been in existence in other states for over 30 years. As fate would have it, they recognized the over-all success that was being experienced by other, older, symphony organizations in more established cities. McLain Homes and The Acadiana Symphony Orchestra joined forces in 2006 to give Lafayette its' first Decorator ShowHouse.

The 2006 event raised over $ 40,000 for the Symphony organization. The ShowHouse had over 4,000 visitors from across the United States, and was a great success for the decorators, vendors, and merchants that participated. That summer the Lafayette ASO ShowHouse was featured in several national publications. One in particular was "Elegant Homes" magazine, published by Meridith publications, which can be found in book stores and on the shelf in August 2007!

If you have not visited a Decorator ShowHouse, the concept goes like this… A builder, company or individual typically will donate the use of a new or existing home that is turned over to a local charity group. The builder/charity then solicits area decorators who will be assigned an area or room in the house to decorate. Lafayette’s 2006 ShowHouse had over 20 decorators participating. After the home is completely built and decorated, it is opened to the public for viewing. All ticket sales, special event fund raising, etc. benefit the local charity group.

The objective is for visitors to leave the event
with great ideas for their new or existing home. It also provides an opportunity to see and meet the areas finest decorators, experience their taste, work, and furnishings all under one roof. The event provides living environment information for every level of homeowner.
In 2007 McLain Homes completed the second ASO ShowHouse in the prestigious Vintage Park.  This event was again a huge success for all included.  The event raised over $60,000 and was viewed by more than 5,000 people.

This is the 2008 Acadiana Symphony ShowHouse.  It is once again located in Vintage Park and designed by Andy McDonald.  It is a traditional Louisiana Plantation home.
The ShowHouse was opened from October 10 - 26.  It was another huge success and visited by many people.  We hope that you were able to view it.  If not be sure to look for our 2009 ShowHouse that will be located in the same development.
